“We loved the interior layout with its rustic yet luxuriously modern feel, and the outdoor bath was magic looking up to the night sky. We’ll be recommending WagonStays as a luxurious and unique getaway, as well as a fantastic gift for a deserving couple.”

“WagonStays provided the perfect haven you simply wouldn’t find anywhere else. The meal was amazing, the wagon was warm and cosy despite it being below zero outside, and attention to every last detail made it a getaway we would definitely recommend.”

“This place is amazing! Thank you so much for making our anniversary so special and memorable. The wine & heart cakes on arrival were such a lovely touch. We will be telling everyone how wonderful it is out here!

P.S. Dinner was delicious”

Thirty minutes from Christchurch, WagonStays Luxury Escapes is in a secluded corner of a 90 acre farm in Selwyn, one of the earliest settled districts in Canterbury.

Guests can do as little or as much as they like during their stay. Those who are able to tear themselves away from the comfort and luxury of the Wagon are encouraged to discover the farm setting. Dog lovers will enjoy meeting Bud, the friendly Labrador.

The resident chooks strut around like they own the place and generally earn their keep by laying eggs, which are free to use or take home. There is also a shearing shed where guests can play table tennis. The crops grown on the working farm include various small seed crops and golden fields of wheat with an adjacent paddock home to over 100 ewes and lambs.

Just a stone’s throw away is the 150 year old Courtenay School that is well worth a wander around and a couple of minute’s drive will take you to the Waimakariri River. There are several entrances to the river and plenty of good spots for fishing, walking & swimming.

WagonStays’ location in the heart of the Canterbury Plains is perfect for relaxation so bring a book or enjoy one of our DVDs. Local activities include horseriding, jetboating and skiing or snowboarding during the winter months. Jasmine and Mike can assist with information and bookings.
